"I have always enjoyed an interest in the basic progress of science as one theory relating to the source and nature of the universe followed another. Black holes, sub atomic particle physics and multi dimensional universes were all part of this.  My interest was true, but given a busy lifestyle I had everyday matters to attend to, and these took up more of my time.

As a child my parents had encouraged me to attend Sunday school, along with my sister.  However, I soon grew bored, and after a few months, exchanged my religious experience for some pony riding lessons.  I never looked back.

As the years passed I noted how many wars seemed sourced by religious differences.  I noticed too that sometimes friends, struggling with everyday problems, would say that their faith in God would help them.  At these times I wondered why they didn’t simply help themselves.  Basically, I became what is referred to as an atheist, or a humanist.

When I had children of my own I encouraged them to respect the needs of others, and to work through their own problems, encouraging them to learn through their experiences.

Further years passed and by chance I was invited to attend a séance along with a friend who had also never been to such an event.  That experience had a profound affect upon me.  So much so that two years later, I wrote a book about it (Spirits In a Teacup, 2009).

My beliefs now are similar to those held before, in that my experience within séance has not caused me to become religious.  I still question the reality of a higher power…in any God-like form.

The greatest change to my way of thinking is that whereas previously I believed that we had one short lifetime…I now believe that life is eternal.  I didn’t fear death before, but now I am quite looking forward to it.

My everyday life has changed since attending that first séance.  I chat with spirit people regularly now, in the same way as I meet earthly friends for a chat.  I feel that my social life has become extended, my personal boundaries are less defined by my physical form.  I am aware that I am a singular being with an individual personality, but I feel that I am a little like a pixel on a computer monitor…part of a whole picture."
